Z Camp logo for Zcamp

Z Camp is a group of 50 zumba instructors in NC that started in 2021 as a casual gathering for zumba instructors in January 2021 (outdoors in the middle of the pandemic). After a second event, the idea was born to open the invitation to all instructors and to use this group to help the community. In May 2021, Zumba®Camp organized a Zumbathon for racial equity, supporting Fiesta Cristina, an Apex based non profit organization that among other programs offers a school tutoring program called “Semillas de Unidad” for Hispanic kids and their families to help them succeed in the educational system. Zumba®camp promoted the organization and raised funds so that more families could access this resource. The mayor of Apex, NC -Jacques Gilbert- was invited and he gave all his support to the group. Since then, more connections were made, and Zumba Camp has supported and collaborated in more than 12 events to create awareness of different organizations and to build a more diverse community supporting different festivals and community celebrations.
